ADIDAS TRACK CLASSIC - CARSON, CA - USA Carmelita Jeter (USA/Nike) dominated a loaded women's 100 meter field that included all of the top American sprinters. In doing so she remained unbeaten in the event for 2009. Jeter also led a Total Sports 1-2 sweep as Olympic Trials Champion Muna Lee (USA/Nike) placed second in her season debut in the 100 meters showing she'll once again be a force in the event. Kenia Sinclair (JAM), proved she is the region’s most dominating middle-distance runnerby winning the women's 1500 meters. Sinclair stayed on the pacemaker, then took the lead as soon at the rabbit dropped out and simply would not let anybody pass her. Amy Mortimer (USA/Reebok) finished a close fourth and crossed the line as the top American in the race. Also turning in solid performances were Xavier Carter (USA/Nike), who placed 2nd in the men's 200 meters, and Novlene Williams-Mills (JAM/Adidas), who placed second in the women’s 400 meters. PONCE GRAND PRIX - PONCE, PUERTO RICO Total Sports athletes put on a show in Ponce. Olympic Silver Medalist David Payne (USA/Nike) overcame a slow start to take the men's 110 meter hurdles in style with a time of 13.35. Laverne Jones-Ferrette (ISV/Adidas) owned the women’s sprints taking the 100 meters and 200 meters. The 400 meter races were won by husband and wife combination Ato Stephens (TRI/Nike) in 45.07, while 200 meter specialist Cydonie Mothersill (CAY/Reebok) set a 400 meter personal best and National record with her mark of 52.18. They were followed closely by Total sports athletes Andrae Williams (BAH), also 45.07, and Clora Williams (JAM/Puma), respectively. Brendan Christian (ANT/Reebok) was victorious in the men's 200 meters, while Jonathan Johnson (USA/Reebok) won the men's 800 meters. Matt Scherer (USA/Nike OTC) placed third in the men's 800 meters. In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Danny McFarlane (JAM/Reebok) took second followed by Reuben McCoy (USA). In sprint hurdles, Andrea Bliss (JAM/Puma) placed third, while on the men’s side Marlon Odom (USA/Adidas) also placed third.
