Jones-Ferrette dominates again

MAY 24th - BELEM GRAND PRIX, Belem, BRA

For the second week in a row Laverne Jones-Ferrette (ISV/Adidas) dominated the sprints and pulled off the 100 meter-200 meter double. This week she topped it off

by running a world leading 200 meter time of 22.49, a personal best. She also ran a respectable 11.18 to win the 100 meters. Jones-Ferrette's only loss this season came in the 100 meters against Carmelita Jeter, but has not been beaten over 200 meters. Placing third in the women's 200 meters was Cydonie Mothersill (CAY/Reebok) who overcame a bad start to run a solid season opening time of 22.79. Andra Manson (USA/Nike) placed third in the men's high jump and Brendan Christian (ANT/Reebok) recorded a respectable time of 20.26 in the 200 meters.

MAY 24th - OTTAWA MARATHON, Ottawa, CAN

Reid Coolsaet (CAN/New Balance) made his marathon debut and finished as the top Canadian in the race, earning a spot on Canada's World Championship team for Berlin.

MAY 23rd - HALLE INTERNATIONAL MEETING, Halle, GER

In just his second competition of the 2009 outdoor season, Olympic shot put fourth-place finisher Dylan Armstrong (Canada/Nike) won the men's shot put with a toss of 20.68 meters.
