MEETING INTERNATIONAL, GUADELOUPE - MAY 1 Carmelita Jeter (USA/Nike) kept her unbeaten streak alive in the 100 meters leading Total Sports to a one-two sweep in the event.
Jeter ran 11.16 into a minus 1.2 wind in a field that included Olympic finalists Williams and Edwards. Laverne Jones (ISV/Adidas) placed second the 100 meters then stormed back to win the 200 meters. In the men's 400 meters, Andrae Williams (BAH) continued to improve placing second to Olympic Gold Medalist Merritt but ahead of Bronze Medalist Neville clocking a season best time of 45.04. In the men's 400 meter hurdles Reuben McCoy (USA) placed second to Olympic Champion Taylor. JAMAICA INVITATIONAL, KINGSTON - MAY 2 Novlene Williams-Mills (JAM/Adidas) who has been world ranked top three for the past three years got a big win in front of a home crowd running away from World number one Sanya Richards to win the women's 400 meters with a world leading time. Kenia Sinclair (JAM) dominated the women's 800 meter field that included Cuban Culia Torrez and America’s Hazel Clark. In the men's Shot Put, National record holder Dorian Scott (JAM/Nike) threw the second farthest throw of his career (21.09 meters) to take second to Olympic Silver medalist Cantwell. Also taking second was Chris Williams (JAM/Reebok) in the men's 200 meters while Andrea Bliss (JAM/Puma) placed third in the women's 100 meter hurdles. PAYTON JORDAN, PALO ALTO - MAY 2 Beijing Olympian Ruky Abdulai (CAN/Nike) won the women's long jump, while Canadian 800 meter Champion Rebecca Johnstone (CAN/Nike) finished second in the women's 800 meters. Julia Howard (CAN/Nike) recorded her fastest 1500 meter time since 2007 (4:12.82) and 2008 NCAA Runner-up Stephen Pifer (USA/Nike OTC) recorded a personal best in the men's 5000 meters. TEXAS INVITATIONAL, AUSTIN - MAY 2 Brendan Christian, ANT/Reebok National record holder in the 200m came out flying by running 19.98 200m with a 2.1 wind winning in a field that included World Championship medalist Wallace Spearmon. Earlier in the day Christian ran an impressive 100m 10.02 which was also slightly wind aided. CORNELL INVITATIONAL, ITHACA - MAY 2 Shot-putter Sheldon Battle (USA) continues to show his return to fitness with his second toss of the season over 20 meters. He won the event with a throw of 20.13 meters.
