On the men’s sprint side Travis Padgett (Adidas) placed 4th to earn a relay spot for the World Championships. In the women's 200 meters, Muna Lee (Nike) placed second running an incredible 22.13w out of lane one.
In the men's 800 meters, Nick Symmonds (Nike OTC), undefeated on the season, once again put on a show in front of the home crowd, while on the women’s side newcomer and back to back NCAA Champion Geena Gall (Nike OTC) placed second to secure her spot on the World Championship team.
In the 110 meter hurdles, it was Mr. Championship, David Payne (Nike), who took his first U.S. title winning in an impressive 13.12. In the men's High Jump, world leader Andra Manson (Nike) placed second to secure his ticket to Berlin.
Stephen Pifer (Nike OTC) placed fourth in the men's 1500 meters and if he reaches the standard he may have a shot at going to Berlin. In the women’s 5000 meters Julie Culley (NYAC) also placed fourth, so if she hits the standard she has a shot at going to the Berlin as well.
JAMAICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS - KINGSTON, JAMAICA
Novlene Williams-Mills (Adidas) made a statement in taking the 400 meter title and running the second fastest time in the world (50.21) to beat the Olympic silver medalist. National record holder Dorian Scott (Nike) won the shot put once again, as did Kenia Sinclair, another national record holder, who won the women's 800 meters.
Former world championship finalist Mardrea Hyman (Asics) won the women's 3000 meter steeplechase, while former Olympic silver medalist Danny McFarlane (Reebok) and Dwight Thomas (Adidas) both placed second in the 400 meter hurdles and 110 meter hurdles, respectively, thus securing spots on Jamaica's World Championship team.
CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS - TORONTO, CANADA
Former World Championship silver medalist Gary Reed (Nike) cruised to an easy win in the men's 800 meters, while national record holder Dylan Armstrong (Nike) won the men's Shot Put.
Former World junior silver Medalist Bryan Barnett (Nike) did double duty to win both the 100 meters and 200 meters for the first time. Rebecca Johnstone (Nike) continues to improve with her second straight national title in the women’s 800 meters, and Reid Coolsaet (New Balance) captured the win in the men's 10,000 meters.
Ruky Abdulai (Nike) placed third in the women's long jump, but punched her ticket to Berlin with a new national meet record and one of the few legal marks on the day.
