Laverne Jones-Ferrette sets a 60m PB of 7.09
01 February 2010
Laverne Jones-Ferrette continued her imperious form as the US Virgin Islands athlete improved her world-leading mark from 7.14 to 7.09 in the heats of the 60m at the BW-Bank Meeting in Karlsruhe.
The 28-year-old, who was more than two-tenths faster than her rivals in the heats, was unable to replicate the same form but Jones-Ferrette dominated the final, winning in 7.11, defeating Frenchwoman Miryam Soumare, who equalled her PB of 7.27.

British veteran Joice Maduaka took a solid fourth in a season’s best of 7.32, which is also her fastest time in three years. The 36-year-old also took second in the 200m in 23.66.

After a shock loss to Jessica Ennis at yesterday’s Aviva International in Glasgow, Lolo Jones regained her ascendancy as the 27-year-old world indoor champion won the 60m hurdles in a world-leading mark of 7.90.
