Canada’s fastest man dropped into frigid Saskatoon Wednesday and set the stage for the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games.
Calgary’s Sam Effah, who is shooting for a 2012 Olympics berth, provided a podium presence during a press-conference called to discuss the Games, which will draw a large international field to Saskatoon Feb. 2 and 3.
The event, says Effah, provides a valuable sense of where he’s at as the Canadian Olympic trials draw closer.
“Everybody wants to go to the Olympics, and for me, too, that’s always been a goal,” Effah said following the press-conference. “This is the most important year in my career. I want to go to the Olympics. I’ve been to the world championships and the Commonwealth Games, and (the Olympics) is the one other thing on my checklist.”
Effah successfully defended his national 100-m sprint title last year at the Canadian championship. The 2012 Canadian championship, which also doubles as the Olympic trials, goes this summer in Calgary.
