U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS - EUGENE, OR Carmelita Jeter (Nike) and Muna Lee (Nike) came out flying in the women’s 100 meters with Jeter edging Lee with the same time of 10.78w to finish 1-2. In the semi-final round earlier in the day, Jeter ran the fastest time under all conditions in the past nine year with a mark of 10.72w.

Symmonds wins 800 again

By Jesse Sowa, For the Gazette-Times Nick Symmonds drew on a little more Hayward Field magic Sunday to win another 800-meter title. Holding off a charging Khadevis Robinson in the homestretch, Symmonds backed up his 2008 Olympic Trials win with a victory in the U.S. Track and Field Championships.

This time, Nick Symmonds didn't wait.

Symmonds scrapped his normal sit-and-kick strategy, surged to the lead on the final turn, then fought off the charging Khadevis Robinson in a gutty last 50 meters to win the 800 on Sunday in the USA Track & Field Championships.
